The NCIS star said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that he would love to see Snoop Dogg play him in a biopic. The Radio rapper joked in response to a question regarding Snoop’s recent admission that he would like to direct a biopic on LL, saying, “We’ve talked about it briefly but only under the condition that he actually plays me.”
“In my biopic, Snoop Dogg must play LL Cool J.” I must have that! If there was a biopic, would you portray me, Snoop? If you take that action, you can create it. As he became serious, the Queens, New York native acknowledged that he was conflicted about adapting his life narrative into a movie, much like 2Pac, Biggie, and 50 Cent.
He said, “I’m open to it, but I won’t lie to you—it kind of bores me.” “I’m not sure. I feel conflicted about it. I simply feel like I can do a lot and I have a lot to do creatively. It’s not that I’m opposed to it; in fact, I’m game for either a documentary or a biography. But I’m not really excited about it. It’s similar to me turning around and staring at myself in the mirror while wearing jeans. I’m not sure what that implies. I don’t frequently do that.
While Tha Doggfather is presently working on his own biopic, Snoop Dogg has not yet replied to LL’s light-hearted plea. It was announced in late 2022 that Universal Pictures was preparing a licensed film based on Snoop’s life, with Joe Robert Cole of Black Panther penning the screenplay and Albert & Allen Hughes (Menace II Society, Dead Presidents) attached to helm.
“I took a long time to put this project together because I wanted to work with the best movie company that could relate to the legacy that I’m trying to leave behind and the portrayal that I’m trying to portray on screen,” Snoop said in a statement. “I also wanted to choose the right director and writer.” “The marriage was ideal. Rather than holy macaroni, it was holy matrimony.
In the meantime, LL Cool J is still working on his autobiography. The 56-year-old will begin a new chapter in his remarkable career on September 6th when his 14th studio album, The FORCE, is released. The project, which is Q-Tip’s last full-length release in more than ten years, has cameos by Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, Saweetie, Nas, Eminem, and Busta Rhymes.
